Wanting to move, I find myself seized with indecision Having a desire to respond, yet holding back I know not what my Lord wills in this situation And time marches on, heedless
Deep wants, the secret dreams, held close and dear Grasping the insistent hope, while waiting For the fog between now and the future to clear As time marches on, heedless
The silence is His answer, and I am contented All things in time, the patient virtue tells With hope and faith my dreams in Him invested While time marches on, with purpose
Social scientists adopt one of four main ontological approaches: realism (the idea that facts are out there just waiting to be discovered), empiricism (the idea that we can observe the world and evaluate those observations in relation to facts), positivism (which focuses on the observations themselves, attentive more to claims about facts than to facts themselves), and postmodernism (which holds that facts are fluid and elusive, so that we should focus only on our observational claims). I find this interesting, mainly because Postmodernism is in direct opposition to the foundation with which Christianity is built, mainly "The Word". I've been listening to a lot of Ravi Zacharias, and also thinking a lot of the concept and role of Faith. I've also been taking a class in Doctrines which has been covering the doctrine of Scripture. All these things relate. But the point of interest here is that Christianity relies on "logos", the word. The evidence given as proof by the Apostles for their assertions was the scriptures, the "more sure word of prophecy" (ref: 2 Pe 1:16-19(0) [tags: quotesontologyphilosophyfaithlogoschristianity]
Christian Faith differs from belief in that you can believe something true and be wrong. Faith, on the other hand, has to do with knowing (Faith is the Greek word Pistis), and for something to count as knowledge, it must be true. (ref: Epistimology
who are You Lord, to pursue me with Your love? who made the wind and the rain? who made the mountains dance and the very earth tremble. who are You Lord, to invest Yourself in me? I who merit naught but judgment? I who have spurned the sweetest gifts of your deep and merciful heart.
I am cut to the quick, I am stricken, Undeserving of the mercy that You have given How can I make for my life a demand When all that I am is Yours to command
I grasp in my heart for what I deserve I forget that my life is here only to serve And I'm caught in between desire and love Loosing sight of what waits for me above
