When the database here at work crashed, we did the sensible thing… we called Sybase Technical support, because the problem wasn’t with our hardware, it was with their software. Their solution was to buy a new disk controller, cause it might be bad. Raid Five disk arrays cost about $3000.00, and problems would be detectable. I think they were just trying to pass the blame, cause they don’t have any clue what the problem is, and they don’t want the blame. i was inspired, here is another haiku to honor their stupidity…
