i’m a fan of haiku. its a way of capturing a moment in time, preserving a memory you find important. like photographs, they grab a single instant, expressing in words the emotion and circumstances of what was going on when it was written. the Japanese invented the form to capture the moments of the passing seasons.

well, it was surely inevitable and the time has come. some one has written a perl script to scan the news and create haiku from the stories. some of the haiku are amazingly good, some are not. it’s up to you as the reader to determine how well the machine has captured the moment.
