i’m a fan of haiku. its a way of capturing a moment in time, preserving a memory you find important. like photographs, they grab a single instant, expressing in words the emotion and circumstances of what was going on when it was written. the Japanese invented the form to capture the moments of the passing seasons. well, it was surely inevitable and the time has come. some one has written a perl script to scan the news and create haiku from the stories. some of the haiku are amazingly good, some are not. it’s up to you as the reader…

my brother has teased me because i went two whole days without posting to my blog. he thinks that i deserve this cause i give him a hard time about not posting very often. personally, i don’t think he has any room to talk. i happened to be gone for the weekend, at home with my parents, and thus missed a whole day without posting. course… i don’t do that very often, unlike a certain sibling of mine who used to go days without posting. so this is what i have to say to him… hmph! #:P
it’s amazing what coming home is like, especially when mom and dad live in a tiny little country town. its like my heart just relaxes. i’ve spent the last couple days hanging with my folks, bonding with dad while working on my car, and giving grandma hugs. :) my mom says i don’t come home enough, and she is probably right. the world we live in is a big place, and there are few places so safe as home. there’s something about being in your parents house, and talking with them about things in the future. incidently, they keep asking…
The disk is brokenMighty Sybase has spokenBuy a new raid five?
When the database here at work crashed, we did the sensible thing… we called Sybase Technical support, because the problem wasn’t with our hardware, it was with their software. Their solution was to buy a new disk controller, cause it might be bad. Raid Five disk arrays cost about $3000.00, and problems would be detectable. I think they were just trying to pass the blame, cause they don’t have any clue what the problem is, and they don’t want the blame. i was inspired, here is another haiku to honor their stupidity… The disk is broken Mighty Sybase has spoken…
Sybase support sadUnexpected crashes badPlease use Oracle
Recently at work we have been experiencing technical difficulties with a certain database product. Over the last few days the sentiment here at work can be summed with this haiku: Sybase support sad Unexpected crashes bad Please use Oracle yours truly,
ok… i don’t really have anything terribly interesting to point out on the news, and no comentary on social issues comes to mind, but it’s been a few days since i’ve blogged and i’m afraid if i don’t write something i’m going to forget how. so there. incidently, pontiacs stink. and whoever the engineer was who thought it would be a good idea to use plastic instead of good reliable metal needs to be horse wipped. having spent the last four days trying to figure out how to get the remains of some plastic threads out of my engine block,…
