This is my favorite photo of Dr. Guimon. Taken near the end of our last trip, on a boat coming back from Murchison Falls. His face captures here how much of himself he put into the work he did in Uganda. At that time, the Guimons had been under a tremendous amount of stress. God had blessed tremendously, but a lot of work and love had been poured into the Orphanage and Church there in Soroti. I haven’t done this up to this point, but I did want to publish information on how to donate to the Soroti Orphanage Assistance…
I’ve not disappeared. Honest. I’ve been engrossed in the idea of Faith, its implication, and its role in Christianity. I’ve been spending a good deal of time thinking about it. It has lead me to some research into Epistemology (fascinating field of philosophy), some research into the Doctrine of Scripture, and some other things. I have the text of my sermon last Wed that I want to publish here, but its not ready. After writing it, I discovered there was a good deal more I wanted to cover. I hope to do that in my sermon today. After that I’ll…
Christian Faith differs from belief in that you can believe something true and be wrong. Faith, on the other hand, has to do with knowing (Faith is the Greek word Pistis), and for something to count as knowledge, it must be true. (ref: EpistimologyA Christian has Faith, because he knows the thing he believes in is true. This makes sense when you read scriptures such as 2 Peter 1:16-19 with other passages like Hebrews 11:1M and Romans 10:17
Social scientists adopt one of four main ontological approaches: realism (the idea that facts are out there just waiting to be discovered), empiricism (the idea that we can observe the world and evaluate those observations in relation to facts), positivism (which focuses on the observations themselves, attentive more to claims about facts than to facts themselves), and postmodernism (which holds that facts are fluid and elusive, so that we should focus only on our observational claims). Taken from Ontology – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I find this interesting, mainly because Postmodernism is in direct opposition to the foundation with which…
I remember while growing up, a constant in my lifeThe presence felt of Faith in God, and knowing that it matteredHow you chose to live with Him,
Its Fall here in the midwest and I’ve been feeling more lately. Things always feel more saturated in the Fall, as though the richness of the colors bleeds into life. ;)Mostly its my over active emotional personality. I’ve not been posting much, and the photos have trickled to a halt. This is because photoblogish type material has been in short supply. You would think this kind of season would awaken my creative energies, and you would be right. But in a perverse turn of events, my creative energies have taken me right straight away from by blog.I’m working on a…

Dr. Guimon always carried a great big huge cup of water around with him. It was one of his trademarks. Back before he went to Uganda, Dr. Pepper was his drink of choice. This picture epitomizes a lot of what Dr. G was about. The huge cup and his posture is so indicative of his quirky and dynamic personality, and the Bible, sitting on top of a huge, worn cup from some gas station, because everywhere he went, he took the gospel with him. I’ve met few people in my life with as much vision and passion.
Dr. Guimon used to spend time sitting on the unfinished floor of what is now the Girls Dormitory on the property of the orphanage he helped start. He would look out and think and plan what needed to be done next. While I was over there back in May/June, I’d spend a bit of time up there with him.
I’ve improved the ability to link to specific passages in the Ajax Bible. The passage header now links to the passage, so you can just copy the link and paste it into your blog post or web page. Additionally, the links to strongs numbers can also be copied, and when pasted into another web page will link back into the bible and display the correct strongs definition.
day suffers day, and emptiness a pervasive feeling in the back of the soul and frustration, crying out, but not completely, to proud to let go of ruined things familiar self suffers self, and resignation a comfortable pain that is perversely loved defying logic to pour energy into an object long dead to vain to give up hopes of a selfish triumph love suffers love, and endless hoping a faithful prompting in the depths of the heart telling you to let go of sins long held private to kind to cease from calling you home
I forget the name of this village, I’ve mentioned it elsewhere.
Tv, on most cameras is the designation for Shutter Priority mode, a mode that will allow you to select a shutter speed that stays constant and forces the Camera to select an appropriate aperture to compensate. Well, I was wondering today why it was labeled Tv? So I googled. The answer is it stands for Time Value. The little “v” in all those designations stands for value. For instance, the Av mode stands for Aperture Value and allows you to select a specific aperture (that would be the diameter of the hole that opens up to let light onto the…
