From a trip I took a few months ago…I remember a southern gentleman, standing in line with his khaki pants, yellow plaid shirt, and oldish blue blazer and straw hat. There were two college age girls in the terminal also, trendy, looking almost feline. The one was sitting, the other standing, caught in mid stretch. She looked indolent, sensual and slinky, wearing an “I love guess” t-shirt that was so thin you can see through it to the sports bra she’s wearing underneath.

From a trip I took several months ago…There was this asian family sitting across from me at the airport terminal. The mother was reading the paper in chinese, or looking out the window, lips pulled back in a dissapproving frown so comfortable for her that it is probably habitual. The father was sitting to her right, looking intent and uncomfortable, and the twentysomething daughter to her left was slouched in the seat reading a Dan Brown novel, fine black hair dyed red and cut just a bit longer than her chin. I remember she was twisting her hair with her…
On the subway yesterday, I had to switch trains at Grand. While I was standing on the platform, I looked over and saw this guy who reminded me of Andrew. He had the same jaw and nose. I remember he had a red checkered shirt on, and got off at Union Station.
Foreign Affairs – God’s Country? – Walter Russell Mead “Religion has always been a major force in U.S. politics, but the recent surge in the number and the power of evangelicals is recasting the country’s political scene — with dramatic implications for foreign policy. This should not be cause for panic: evangelicals are passionately devoted to justice and improving the world, and eager to reach out across sectarian lines.” Walter Russell Mead is Henry A. Kissinger Senior Fellow for U.S. Foreign Policy at the Council on Foreign RelationsA fantastic summarization and description of the power structure of modern (and some…
I don’t have many cool t-shirts. In fact, 90% of my t-shirts were aquired from work/school/church/volunteer activities. Sad, I know. But I’m going to fix this. Next year (because I have other important financial obligations this year), is going to be the “Year of the T-Shirt”. :)So I’m collecting my favorite witty and socially hip/rebellious/incrowd t-shirts. It is a common delusion that you make things better by talking about them. Dame Rose Macaulay (1881 – 1958)
Morality, like art, means drawing a line someplace. Oscar Wilde (1854 – 1900)
You know how life is like a train, and sometimes you’re in the Engine and in complete control, and sometimes you’re in the Kaboose, just hanging on? Oy. Life, of course, is cyclical, and the last couple of months have been busy, but unlike other months when I’m busy (because I’m pretty much busy all the time), these months I’ve also been worn out, a situation that I had hoped would be avoided by the surgury I had in Jan of this year, but unfortunately has not had the miraculous rejuvinating effects I had hoped (at least, the effects I…
This is a photo I took several years ago that was to be used as a book cover for a book of Spurgeon’s Sermons to be titled, “The Inability of Man”. The cover never materialized, but the photo is cool. This is, of course, back when Jon had longer hair. ;)

Man seems to be capable of great virtues but not of small virtues; capable of defying his torturer but not of keeping his temper. – G. K. Chesterton

They had needed a second camera and I was available. Cool huh?
Think In Pictures: Adventures in Visual Education: The Case Against Jill Greenberg’s “End Times” This little controversy has been raging for a few days, and is related to the photo I linked to yesterday or the day before. Opinions?
Paul Kopeikin Gallery – Jill Greenberg | Earth I don’t think cute even begins to describe this photo. Heart melting, adorable are a good start. The pathos is extraordinary.Oh, and there appears to be something of a temptest raging in the teapot we call the blogosphere as detailed by kottke.

They’re sitting on my hard drive. ;)As you may have already guesed by this point, I’m about to tell you I’ve been busy. But, I am not going to apologize. ;) The shifting stresses in life move all the time, its a bit like the tide in that respect, and the tide has come in for things here at my job, you know, the one that pays all the bills. I feel myself being pulled in one to many directions, so walljm.com is being put on…
