Who is that friend I seek at night
With long blond hair and eyes so bright
With whom I wish to chase this hour
Till sunshine lay upon the flower
By the window sil
Hmmmmmmmmmm, this could be misconstrewed, son
Just for clarification, the girl is fictional, the was poem written like all my other poems, in a fit of inspired rhyme. The idea was to capture that emotion so often associated with a conversation that neither party wishes to end and goes til dawn. Everyone has to some degree experienced that at one time or another. My poetry often takes the romantic mode, not because I personally am involved in some kind of romance, but because its an easy mode to write in.
I do that, too. My mom read one of my poems about this couple that I wrote…and she looked at me like, “And when were you going to tell me about this?” and then I told her it wasn’t real at all. She nodded. I still don’t think she believes me.
I really like this’en… for some reason the last line rings in my head.
