I have been writing on the web since 2000. I am a christian , a photographer, an occasional poet, a recovering dreamer, an occasional philosopher, a software developer, an autodidact, and I resemble the INFP personality type.

I wonder when I see a smile fading deep into your eyes, What happenstance brings about that emotion, that response? It is sometimes bright and sudden, sometimes soft and subtle, But always rich in flavor, rich in texture and in essence. Is it the culmination of some hard won achievement? Perhaps the sudden reaping of some long sought after substance? Possibly it’s something simple but only just now noticed, Like the way a mother looks at the daughter that she kisses. Perhaps it’s something common, often shared and treasured, With family and with friends, in memories unending. Is it the…

Morungatun is an IDP camp located about 30 kilometers North-West of Soroti. On our first Sunday (5/22), we drove out to the camp and Pastor preached. Conditions there were poor, but better off than in some places. Dr. Guimon had recently been able to supply them with seeds and potato cutting so they could plant. Because of Joseph Kony, many Ugandan’s were unable to plant this year, and many lost not just their homes, but also their crops and seeds. They had been praying for rain, and God had blessed. Because most of Uganda survives of subsistence farming, the importance…

Well, my hiatus lasted nine months. I had a chance to get some rest, to clear my head, by some more camera equipment, and grow up some. Here is what you should expect the site to be like in the future. Not a whole lot will change. I will be posting written entries hopefully on a weekly basis. I’m not giving myself a time schedule, just a loose time frame to keep the blog from becoming vacant. I want to post some of the bible study I’ve done in the past few months, so look for those to show up. There…

This particular photo was taken in the parking lot of Missouri Baptist Hospital, at the junction of I-270 and I-64. Shot with an aperture of f/22 for 30 seconds at ISO 100. The image has been adjusted for…

In response to a photograph by Chromasia, I wrote a couple of comments that turned into something of a mini essay on photographic style and how it relates to us as a medium. The comments were worthy of posting here, so I thought I would share them with you.Part One posted in response to MotherPhotographers have at their disposal a couple of basic tools. The use of perspective to alter the normal perception of a scene or object, and the arrangement and tonal depth of light.Without going through all your photos to survery them, just from what I remember seeing…

The last few months have been busy. I had to replace my truck, I’ve shot two weddings, done several smaller photo jobs, work has picked up, and I’ve been physically weak. :)Last couple days here have been very nice, with temps in the 60’s. It reminded me of Fall and how much I miss it. I currently don’t have any photos to post, and I don’t have time to scour the archives. I had hoped to keep a daily posting up here for a long time before a break, but I’m not going to make it. As soon as I…
